AI accuracy is too hardcore
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

AI accuracy of CUP weapons looks pretty aimbot level, especially when with optics.
My recent personal expirience (as a target):

  • one shot kill from 600-700+m by AK-74 + PSO-1(took about 3-5 sec after leaving cover)
  • one shot kill from 300m by AK (took 10 seconds of firefigt in open)
  • one shot kill of moving target from 400-500m by SVD + PSO-1 (took about 3-5 sec after leaving cover)

Also according to results of this research by nkenny: CUP makes AI too much accurate and it's not feel fair. Maybe sort of RHS's AI setting may be applied?

What difficulty was it on? If people feel it's too hard can't they just dial back the difficulty settings?

CUP makes AI too much accurate and it's not feel fair.

Well it also says it matches vanilla values. This means that if CUP weapons are too accurate, vanilla are too. So I am not sure what should be the gold standard here.

Not excatly, it says:

@200 Meters
At mid range the differences between the weapons become evident. CUP weapons are almost twice as effective as their vanilla counterpart.

Anyway, even if vanilla guns make such long and accurate shots - it's still feels not real to these shots to happen (ofc there is a chance that i didn't notice some details, like first bullet landed 20-100m away from me and i didn't noticed it).
Also it makes CUP + RHS usage a bit uncontrollable, as there is dramatic difference of accuracy levels and it can't be tweaked by skill settings only.

That is a non-argument. What RHS does or does not do is none of our business.

What I do agree with is that the AI accuracy is too high, and that it should be tuned down.

i've never experienced any such issue, but its also true we (the group i play with) tweak AI values a bit

As the author of the thread being referenced I thought that I could give some contxet.

I suspect that many communities (and individuals) play with highly tweaked which generally reduce accuracy and AI responsiveness. My tests therefore reflected a bare bones, untweaked, default state, in a high performance single player environment. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with such a state of affairs [demanding tweaked settings]. Especially as RHS is the only coherent mod set which sticks out.

My findings do indicate, that CUP weapons are considerably more accurate than their vanilla counter parts. Vastly so at longer ranges. This I think is a problem. It means that the translation vanilla gear to CUP gear is not seamless. It introduces unnecessary inconsistencies to weapon behaviour. I would argue that CUP should match weapon performance with their vanilla counterparts. The simplest solution would be to inherit or duplicate an appropriate weapon system.
