I believe this is in order to simulate ships being easier to spot for ground radars, as there isn't any clutter to blend in amongst. As far as I can tell, the Super hind isn't even supposed to have automatic IR sensors

The base model Mi-24P/V has an IR Sensor, so I'm not sure what you mean @Freddo3000
Almost all of the Gunship variant helicopters have an IR Sensor. (Examples; AH-6, Mi-24[P/V] with 2km IR sensor, AH-1Z, UH-1Y, AH-64 with 3km IR sensor)
The Hunter MRAPs in the video were being seen by the visual cone, within 2km, as none of the MRAPs had their engines on to allow an IR Sensor Acquisition.

Furthermore, the AH-64D, Mi-48, AH-99, V-44, and every other radar utilizing aircraft can see the MRAPS on the ground.
I tested this myself because I noticed the radar of the Superhind was non-functional during a multiplayer game.

The Mi-24 Superhinds' radar, simply put, does not track or acquire land vehicles. (EDIT: Above 5m height difference)

Upon further testing; The radar CAN track ground vehicles within 5m of its horizontal plane.

• At 6m horizontal difference, the radar is blind.
• At 5m horizontal difference the radar can see some targets,
• At 0m horizontal difference the radar can see the greatest number of tracked targets

Even attempted to do a barrel roll to see if the radar was simply upside down, but that didn't help.

To follow up on that the Superhind is supposed to have IR sensors, a part of the Superhind upgrade package was the addition of modern IR sensors (of which you can prominently see on the front of the aircraft in images and the model ingame.)

@Goopy can I have a source on that? Would make it easier to implement.

I don't even think the Superhind has radar in real-world, but it does have a Data-Link type system(MAPS - Mission Awareness Positioning System).

Upon further reading it does have a doppler system;

I believe the issue is caused by this parameter maxGroundNoiseDistance = 200, https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Sensors_config_reference#maxGroundNoiseDistance
Anyhow just to get things right on the first go:

• It should have an IR sensor
• It should have a Visual sensor
• It should have a RWR
• It should have a doppler radar
• It should have a sensor link

Feedback on what values these should have would be nice

The values that are currently set for all those are fine, the real issue is the radar issue that was described in this ticket and the lack of a HMS.
