I don't think it is but if that is the correct way that's pretty fucked up as you basically can't use it in 3PV then. I'll go load up arma again and test it.

yes, i get perfectly what you mean, when you're in third person the view is locked forward and doesnt follow mouse input on the door gun. but i'm also saying that this seems like normal engine behavior. i never use vanilla vehicles and even less door guns on said vehicles, but that's how i recall it

Eogos added a comment to T2969: Chinook door gunners 3rd person view.

I don't think you get what I mean, the camera is locked forward as in the way the nose of the chinook is pointed not the way the gunner is facing. Also, even if it was locked the way the gunner is pointed that'd be a little annoying imo but idk I don't normally play in third person.

Tookatee added a comment to T2966: Accuracy on door gunner M134s is unrealistic and appallingly useless.

You shouldn't be forced to have a player in the seat in order to have a useful door gunner.

Well yes, but they're useless with how it is currently set.

there is reason, AIs use different firemodes with different dispersion for various reasons, that's how the game works.

So I don't see a reason why this would be an Invalid ticket.

Yes, there is no reason why it should be any less accurate than a player using it. How it is right now makes them almost useless as gunners.

that's the AI firemodes, they have higher dispersion
might consider toning it down

Tookatee added a comment to T2966: Accuracy on door gunner M134s is unrealistic and appallingly useless.

I see what it is now, It's when AI are in control. As a player it works fine, but if you go into the pilot seat and have a gunner fire it you'll see the innacuracy.

Odd, could you possibly send a video of what it looks like for you? Cause its very erratic fire for me.

I just unloaded the other map mods I had loaded, and the results are the same. They're also the same on the servers I've played on that has the CUP mod. Are you using the door gunner minigun to test this? I've been seeing this issue the most on the UH-1Y Gunship Huey's doorguns.

dunno what to tell you, works fine here, and when it happened it was a locality issue. check the loaded mods because the problem is definitely on your end.

So the actual physical projectile is following this erratic shotgun pattern and therefore makes the m134 much more inaccurate than it should be.

And these tracers that were going all over the place were actual projectiles as when they impacted the ground they threw up dust or broke windows in the adjacent buildings.

I was doing this testing in the editor and the virtual arsenal and the bullets do seem to follow this wide dispersal cone of accuracy as when I was attempting to kill the driver of an open top UAZ from about 100m away no rounds hit him for about 10 seconds and I could see the impacts of the bullets throwing up dust on the ground around him.

and by correct i mean the actual "physical" projectile travels in the right direction with the proper dispersion values as set in the configs

this is a known engine issue, only happens when the vehicle is not local to the player, note however that despite the tracers going all over the place the real bullets have correct ballistics.

Tookatee added a comment to T2953: Mismatch between the AIM-9L name and actual texture.

OK you're pointing out the two aircraft who did exist at around that time, still doesn't mean that this isn't a problem or that those missiles continued to be used up until today (which they didn't) or that all the aircraft in that have them are supposed to have them (Apache, F-35, etc.) I have no problem with the AIM-9L being ingame, I just think that if it is it should LOOK like an aim-9L instead of having the words "AIM-9X" printed on the side of the texture and that there should be the capability to equip the AIM-9X onto these aircraft as they are capable of using today even if you're going by the logic that they fit into the time-frame of Arma 2.
